Involving Medway Community Health Researchers

Are you interested in improving health and wellbeing in Medway? Would you like to help people get heard? Do you want to learn new skills? Medway Voluntary Action is recruiting to expand their team of volunteer Community Health Researchers to help make sure the voices and experiences of local people are listened to in health planning. We are interested in recruiting local residents from across the Medway Towns to carry out interviews within local communities. You will receive free training and additional support from MVA.

Independent Volunteer

An Independent Visitor (IV) is an adult volunteer who befriends and develops a long-term friendship with a young person in care. This can involve helping young people develop new interests, skills and hobbies or going on outings such as to the cinema, bowling or just a walk in the park. The volunteers are called ‘Independent Visitors’ because they are a truly ‘independent’ person outside the care system.

Community Fridge Assistant x2

To manage the community fridge during its opening times. Duties can include: Check food is fresh and good to eat and dispose of out of date food Provide assistance to users of fridge Ensure food is shared fairly Clean fridge and CF area Hours will be 3-4hours once weekly Candidate must have or be willing to take Level 2 in Food Safety course, must be reliable and conscientious.

Mini-Nucleus Assistant

Mini-Nucleus introduces infants and their parents to the concept of creativity through play, explorating colours, textures and shapes in a wide variety of safe mediums. This weekly session on Thursday mornings is facilitated by one of Nucleus' artists.

Front of House Volunteer

Our Front of House volunteer is a central role to the museum. Meeting and greeting our visitors, explaining what the museum is about, promoting the events programme, and taking payments, you will be the first point of contact. You will assist with keeping our gift shop fully stocked and making sure that all items are priced and attractively displayed.

Telephone Befriender Admin Volunteer

The Befriending Service Admin Volunteer provides administrative support to the Telephone Befriending service. Duties might include: - Making follow-up phone calls to carers to review the service (e.g. after 3 months). - Collecting feedback and keeping up-to-date records. - General admin support such as requesting that letters are sent out, on the waiting list for the service.
